Ayubowan!

Welcome to Afrolanka's Official Blog site!

I am Nuru, the founder of the Afrolanka Family (Not a big one, but a proud one!)
I am planning to use this platform to share a little more with you and the rest of the world with regards to my baby (Afrolanka Hair Line).

AYUBOWAN!

A Sri Lankan way of greeting, which means 'wishing you a long life'
The name Afrolanka ties Africa and Sri Lanka, two different worlds that make up most of me.
I was born and raised in Kenya but got the luck to have lived seven years in the pearl of Indian ocean - Sri Lanka.
This is where I was first introduced to AYURVEDA.
To Sri Lankans this is their lifestyle.
Their daily day-to-day life rotates mainly around Ayurveda, Meditation the Dharma (Teachings of their Lord Buddha).

I have experienced Ayurveda in its habitat and when it was time for me to go back home, I took that piece with me, and frankly am hoping to stay with it and grow it more for the rest of my life.

After moving to Kenya, alot of my family members noticed my extreme hair growth and were shook, not only hadn't they seen my hair past my shoulder level, but now it was past my bra strap level.
So my mom encouraged me to try making the oil I used while in Sri Lanka so that my sisters could get to use it. I stalled for a while, I never acted immediately to her request. Till I was officially fed up with all the weak oils my family was buying from the stores, it was giving me dandruff and my hair just felt stuck!
Thus on September 2018 , I made my first Afrolanka oil, everyone at home couldn't  wait, I had cousins and aunties lining up just to give it a try.
I went on preparing the Ayurveda hair oil for close relatives and friends till my mom gave me the idea to start selling it and see where it goes.

Here we are today, sharing this Ayurveda oil with you!
I am more than happy to tell you more about this Hair oil and what it can do for your hair.
Afrolanka Ayurveda Oil is composed of up to 10 Ayurvedic herbs and has undergone a complete authentic Ayurveda process which includes  cooling with Copper.
The best way to rip the benefits out of this oil is to:
  • Do a weekly hot oil treatment and let that hair just soak it up!
  • Daily scalp massages with the oil for 1-2 minutes to increase blood flow
  • Apply on your tips to avoid split ends
  • Mix with your conditioner/ hair treatment to add nutrients
  • Use the L.O.C method to properly incorporate moisture into your hair.

Afrolanka most pronounced benefits include:
  • Strengthening the hair roots to shafts, this helps in reducing and preventing hair breakage and  hair fall.
  • Reduce itchy scalp and dandruff almost instantly!
  • It is a natural anti graying oil
  • It has also proven to stop shading hair that has been colored/dyed and chemicals
  • Adds elasticity to hair which makes your hair bouncy and softer
  • Increases volume which is best for a receding hairline (save dem edges!)
  • (1-2 mins scalp massages) daily can promote and boost hair growth (for proper blood circulation and growth stimulation)
  • With the newly added camphor, our oils as of today can ease and sooth headaches/migraines when applied.
Short after... the Afrolanka Olive Hair Oil was also birthed as a request from some of my clients which have sensitive scalps that react to coconut oil.

The Afrolanka Olive is made of 100%  pure olive oil and contains the same Ayurveda properties as the Normal Afrolanka Hair oil and Moreover it has a milder scent compared to your normal Ayurveda oil.

Welcome aboard and let Ayurveda bring life back to your Hair.

Afrolanka Has a New Look!

Ayubowan! Welcome back to our blog! With new exciting news... This week we managed to Launch our new look! Yes! Afrolanka finally has a new look. Our Designer @Nasra.n.ali was incharge of our re- branding and she is far the best I have ever worked with. She was keen enough to listen and understand what vision and idea I had, plus she had fun with it in the process -which made her creativity shine even more! As you all know, Afrolanka is a hand made product (with so much love and care), this is precisely why I wanted our logo hand written too; so that it could reflect that special essence .  So Yes! Our logo was written  by hand! Since I relate much to Ayurveda and boho style, I wanted the look to be bohemian, hence the Bohemian fonts. Most of the Afrolanka Family relate a lot to the 'pink' color from our prior logo,i decided to keep a little bit of the pink as well in the new look, hence the pink dots.(I just love how she incorporated them!) Finally for the i...
